Hundreds of pixel artists reconstruct the Can Tho region of Pokemon Red / Green. A nostalgic place where the protagonist's house is freely rebuilt, such as stone building

Hundreds of pixel artists gathered and reproduced the Game Boy version of Pokemon Red / Green (hereinafter, Pokemon Red and Green) in one color. Overseas media The Gamer reports.

Pokemon Red / Green is the RPG for Game Boy released by Nintendo in 1996, the first of the Pokemon series. As a Pokemon trainer, it is the foundation of a popular series that challenges gym leaders in various places while catching creatures called Pokemon, and finally aiming for victory from the Pokemon League Shitenno.

A project that reproduced the Canto region, the stage of Pokemon Red and Green, with pixel art of evolved graphics. The name of the project is Kanto Redrawn. The Canto region is divided into about 50 locations, and each is reproduced with the individuality of the artist. A total of hundreds of pixel artists are involved in total. The goal of this project is to express the visuals of the Canto region, which could only be realized by the technical constraints of Game Boy, to express the visuals in the Canto region.

From Masala Town to Sekiei Plateau, the streets, roads and waterways that players can visit in the game are also reproduced, and the Canto region is a single map. In the site, the specifications can be searched for the Canto region as if you were looking at a Google map by zooming the page.

In the original, wild Pokemon, which was not described in the field because of the random encounter system, is also depicted in this project. Nyoromo is playing in the water on the 21st Waterway, and on the west side of the 3rd road, Pigeon is flying in a group of V-shaped flocks. These are only one example, and this kind of taste is elaborate over all areas.

In addition, if you turn on the function that displays the original version map from the option, you can enjoy the search by comparing it with the original map. For example, there are two private houses in Masala Town, the beginning of the story (the name Pallet Town in the English version). In the original version, it looks like a simple two-story house, but in the Kanto Redrawn version, the outer wall is stone-built and a chimney is installed. In addition, the new Canto region imagined by the artists, such as the Pokemon Center of Tokiwa City, which was a cube one-story one-story building, is a dome type according to the animation version.

The texture of the water surface, which was unified in the original, has different expression methods depending on the artist, and it is very interesting to compare it. If you like the part you like, the link of the artist's Twitter in charge of the list on the sidebar is displayed. From there, you may want to touch another work of an interested artist.

EXCELL

This project is part of the project called Retro Redrawn, and the project is also a stage of Johto Redrawn, which reproduces the Jout region, which is the stage of Pokemon Gold / Silver, and the Legend of Zelda. The Legend of Zelda Redrawn, which reproduces the Hilal, has also been announced.

Retro Redrawn is a strong respect for the original, and offers a new view of the world with evolved graphics. I would like to see the reproduction of other pixel art works.
